HPFP banjo bolt?
« on: November 15, 2014, 02:18:30 pm »
Hi I'm new here, been browsing the forum for a couple of months, but this is my first post...
I went about replacing the HPFP cam follower the other day, as my 2005 gti approached 35000, I thought it would be wise to do so...
Problem was, I could not manage to undo the fuel pipe with the banjo bolt, my pump being the type with two metal pipes. Does anyone know what the correct fitting is for the banjo bolt - I assumed it would be a t40 torn, but it wasn't a good fit, nor was any type of spline. I did however manage to remove the pump and swap the follower by gently manipulating and loosening the mounts of the pipes, but I wasn't really happy about doing that way. It would be nice to get the correct tool for inspection next time, cheers, Rick.

Nice to know i'm not the only one that finds the banjo bolt a PITA. Happy i won't have to mess about with that again. The banjo bolt delete was a bit of a PITA but well worth it.

Replaces the solid line/banjo bolt with a hose.

in the pic below you can see the hose is still connected to the hpfp.
